History announced on Tuesday, September 12th that “Vikings” Season 6 is happening. The confirmation came two months before the official premiere of the series’ fifth installment. The network also confirmed that the cast and crew would start shooting for season six this fall. Recently, executive producer Michael Hirst shared that he considers filming in India.
Series’ new locations might include Russia and India
International Business Times Australia reported that the cast and crew are flying off to Russia to shoot for the imminent “Vikings” Season 6.
The team previously filmed in Morocco and Iceland. Michael Hirst expressed his excitement in exploring a new world with the story once again.
When asked if he would consider coming to India for shooting the series, Michael said he loves the idea. “I will ask the other producers whether we can go to India because it is true that one of the things that we complain about is that we never go to anywhere warm,” the executive producer shared to Indo-Asian News Service via phone, as cited by Business Standard. He added that even the crew would also love to work in the country.
Just like the fourth and fifth installments, “Vikings” Season 6 will have 20 episodes. Series regular Katheryn Winnick will have her directorial debut in the upcoming sixth installment.
The 39-year-old Canadian star portrays the role of Lagertha in the popular historical drama series.
IBT Australia claimed that Michael would be focusing on the show’s sixth installment as they are now filming in Ireland. Lead actor Alexander Ludwig was sighted on the location. He is set to reprise his role as Bjorn Ironside, who is the eldest son of Ragnar Lothbrok and Lagertha.
New key character announced
Meanwhile, Deadline previously confirmed that Danila Kozlovsky would be joining “Vikings” Season 6. The news outlet reported that the 32-year-old Russian film actor would play the role of Oleg The Prophet. For starters, Oleg the Prophet, or Oleg Novgorod, was the tenth-century Varangian prince who governed the people of Rus.
Danila already starred in several Russian films that include “Legend No. 17,” “Soulless” and “Spy.” The hunky actor also appeared in the “Hardcore Henry” movie, which was produced by Timur Bekmambetov and directed by Ilya Naishuller. He also graced Keira Knightley’s Chanel Coco Mademoiselle perfume advertisement.
History has yet to announce the official premiere date of “Vikings” Season 6. The series’ fifth installment, on the other hand, will start airing on November 29. Stay tuned for spoilers, news, and updates!
