NBC's highly acclaimed drama "This Is Us" is set to return for its sophomore season this month and the network has finally released some promotional photos for the upcoming season. In it, viewers get a first look at Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) as a troubled couple on the verge of a possible separation. NBC released two photos of Jack, one in which he sits in a car, seemingly stalking someone (Rebecca, possibly?) or maybe waiting to pick up the kids at school. In another shot, he's looking contemplative as he grabs a cup of coffee in a diner.

Rebecca, on the other hand, is sporting some new changes to her appearance in "This is Us" season 2.

Is Rebecca sporting lighter hair?

It may be a tiny detail, but the promotional photos for "This is Us" season 2 shows Rebecca with slightly lighter hair than during her fight with Jack in last season's finale. While this may easily be glossed over, some believe it's indicative of the couple's separation. A major change in appearance, specifically with someone's hair, is often indicative that he or she had gone through some major changes. Does Rebecca's new hair color indicate that she and Jack have split? None of the promotional photos show the pair together. In fact, one shot shows Rebecca sitting alone on the bed, reading a book.

Thankfully, she still has her wedding ring on, as with Jack, who is also wearing his wedding ring.

Jack leaves his family

According to ET, "This is Us" season 2 may also find Rebecca trying to spend time with her kids sans Jack. In one of the promo photos, Rebecca is seen laughing alongside Kevin and Randall, who seem to be enjoying the film they're watching.

The same cannot be said for Kate, whose sullen facial expression indicates that she's definitely not enjoying herself. Given Kate's close relationship with her father, it seems like she won't take his departure easily.

Sylvester Stallone to guest star in the second season

Aside from more shocking revelations and tear-jerking scenes, "This is Us" season 2 will also feature "Creed" actor Sylvester Stallone as a guest star. Stallone isn't a stranger to guest starring roles, as he recently appeared on the big screen in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." Variety reported that as per creator Dan Fogelman, Stallone will play himself as an actor who is a co-star of Kevin (Justin Hartley). Stallon's character will be "mentor figure who starts bringing up some stuff for Justin’s character involving Jack and his relationship with his own father."

"This is Us" season 2 begins on September 26 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
