The latest updates and spoilers for "The Flash" Season 4 will feature Barry Allen and his friends fight evil versions of themselves from Earth X in the next Arrowverse crossover. Executive producer Todd Helbing talks about the psychological battle between the Scarlet Speedster and this season's newest big bad, The Thinker.

Crisis on Earth X

Warner Bros. and the CW Network announced the next "Arroverse" crossover and it will feature the DC TV heroes going to war with their evil doppelgangers from Earth X. The title of the crossover is called "Crisis on Earth X" and comic book artist Phil Jimenez created a custom comic book cover to commemorate the event.

Crisis on Earth X will also introduce the live-action version of Ray Terrill a.k.a. The Ray in the "Arrowverse" and he is played by "Quantico" actor Russell Tovey. Ray is from Earth X and in that world, the Nazis won World War 2 and took over the entire planet.

Ray and his fellow freedom fighters try to save their homeworld from the Nazis but they are overpowered by their world's version of Green Arrow, Supergirl, and The Flash, who have joined the twisted regime.

Perhaps, the latter will seek help from Team Flash, Team Arrow, Supergirl and the Legends to combat the Nazis and save his planet. Earth X's invasion in the crossover will also happen during Barry Allen and Iris West's wedding day. The CW Network will air "Crisis on Earth X" Nov.

Psychological war with The Thinker

Executive producer Todd Helbing shared his insight about season 4's new main villain, Clifford DeVoe a.k.a. The Thinker. He told TV Line that his battle with Barry is something of a "psychological component" and DeVoe's motivation for beating The Flash is due to something personal and that experience will drive him to come up with dangerous and twisted plans to challenge the latter and his friends in saving Central City.

DeVoe is a complete departure from villains like Reverse-Flash, Zoom, and Savitar as Barry will not rely on his speed, but his quick thinking to defeat his new foe.

Grant Gustin stated during San Diego Comic-Con 2017 that Barry will show off his new abilities and knowledge that he had acquired during his time in the Speed Force.

These changes will also affect the latter's relationship with his friends and family during the course of the season.

Tom Cavanagh teased that a new version of Harrison Wells will debut in the second haft of the show. Season 4 will premiere on Oct. 10 at 8 PM on the CW Network.
