The Season 11 of CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory” premieres tonight, and fans are biting their nails impatiently. The last season ended on a cliffhanger when Sheldon proposed Amy New Jersey shortly after getting kissed by his colleague, Ramona.
The Nerd Effect
After the gyroscope project was confiscated by the military, the show needs to add something similar to please the nerd audience. Viewers have watched the four nerds working together on bizarre, yet exciting, projects in the past, and they want to see something more on the same line. The last year’s gyroscope project put Leonard and Howard working in close quarters with Sheldon which led to hilarious consequences, but it was visually bland.
Will Wheaton is also making an appearance after taking a break last season.
Post-Baby Blues
Howard and Bernadette had a baby in Season 10, and they spent most of the previous season in catering to her needs. It is high time to move the focus out of their family life. With Howard’s mother gone, we have already lost-an otherwise unapologetic-Howard’s embarrassed side. As Amy and Sheldon are getting more screen since last season, it becomes difficult for showrunners to keep the other storylines as interesting as they were before.
Embracing Adulthood
Raj decided to grow a pair of balls and moved to live with Bert, a geologist at Caltech. Raj had been financially dependent on his family since the day we got to know him.
His decision to stop taking financial assistance from his father is a big step forward for his character. Becoming financially independent will also bring him confidence in relationships. He might realize his complicated sexual orientation as well which has been the talk of the town.
The Third Wheel
Leonard and Penny didn’t have anything new on their platter lately, except that they were living alone for the first time.
During last season, Leonard’s mother, Beverly had remarked that Leonard and Penny need a third person as a buffer to distract them from relationship issues. With Sheldon living with Amy and Raj moving out, they might face some bitter realities of their relationship this season.
The Elephant in the Room
The most important question of the show that what will be the future of Sheldon and Amy?
Amy is a neurobiologist, and she is waiting for Sheldon to propose her since Season 8. On the one hand, she has an analytical way of thinking. On the other hand, she deeply loves Sheldon. Her answer might be different from an obvious ’yes’ contrary to popular belief. Riki Lindhome, playing the character of Ramona, will make a reappearance which might lead to a love triangle among them. It will be interesting to watch how did Amy handle this third angle in her relationship.
“The Big Bang Theory” season 11 premieres on CBS tonight at 8 p.m.
