Taylor Swift finally revealed the first music video of her Reputation album. The video premiered during the MTV Video Music Awards and never before have we have seen so much silver, gold, cats, thin models and feud references in one video.
But Taylor Swift’s biggest achievement for this week is receiving 3 million views per hour on her “Look What You Made Me Do” music video. The new record received so much attention thanks to the controversy that revolves around it and fans already have their own ideas about who the song is directed at. Knowing how excited fans were to hear a new song from Swift, the views that her new music video is gaining each day only shows that her "Reputation" album will become another hit.
Taylor Swift owns the music charts again
Even on Spotify, the “Bad Blood” singer is also receiving big streaming numbers. So far, it has been played 23 million times and it is expected to keep on increasing while we wait for the album’s release on November 10. Perhaps her return to Spotify gave her an advantage even though she pulled all her records out from the company once upon a time.
While the song is making history on the charts, Target is already accepting pre-orders of “Reputation” that will include 72 pages of collectible magazines, photos, poetry, and lyrics written by the “Out of the Woods” singer herself. It will cost $19.99.
Swift started promoting “Reputation” on social media followed by a lyric video of “Look What You Made Me Do” that received 19 million views in a span of 24 hours after its publication.
The meaning behind the ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ video
But why is the music video so famous already? It's because fans are still on the look-out at what the new Swift is like after a series of feuds, break ups and drama that has been covered by the media. She removed the content of her Instagram account before posting snake clips until she finally announced the title of her new album.
Additionally, lyrics about Katy Perry, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian did not go unnoticed. Although Swift has yet to confirm the truth behind these references, some things are quite obvious to point out. In her video, fans noticed how Swift dressed up like Katy Perry, holding a Grammy and dissing all of her personas in her previous music videos.
“Reputation” merchandise is now available on Swift’s website. It includes “I Heart TS” shirts that were worn by male dancers in her video.
Taylor Swift is expected to release new singles following the “Look What You Made Me Do” track. Her album is due on November 10.
