Petsch made the confession in response to a question that a fan asked her and revealed that her role on the show could have been completely different. Fans were shocked at this revelation, as Petsch has become well known for her portrayal of the mean hearted Cheryl Blossom.
The actor reveals the audition process for 'Riverdale'
According to Teen Vogue, Madelaine Petsch has come forward and stated that she was nearly given the role of Betty Cooper in the hit TV series "Riverdale." Petsch stated that originally she auditioned for a role in the superhero series "Legends of Tomorrow" and was hoping to land a guest role on the show.
However, three days later the actor was asked to come in for the producers of "Riverdale" and to audition for the part of Betty Cooper. In a report by Seventeen Magazine Madelaine stated it that became clear to her pretty early on that she was being considered for the role of Cheryl Blossom rather than Betty Cooper.
Madelaine Petsch was sent away and later notified that the role of Betty Cooper had been given over to someone else. However, four months later the actor was asked to come back in and audition for the role of Cheryl Blossom, the teenage antagonist of the show "Riverdale."
Madelaine nailed the auditioned and the producers were certain that she would make the perfect Cheryl. Fans of the show found Madelaine's confession shocking, as they could not imagine her in the role of a sweet girl next door Betty Cooper.
Cheryl will be getting a whole lot darker on season 2 of 'Riverdale'
According to Teen Vogue, the second season of "Riverdale" is due to get a whole lot darker especially for the character of Cheryl Blossom. In the end of season one of the show, it is revealed that Cheryl's brother Jason was murdered by her father who then committed suicide before he is arrested.
Cheryl loses it completely and sets her house on fire, the consequences of which are due to be continued into season two. In a shocking trailer for the second season, fans get to see Cheryl's mother in the hospital burns unit as she has been badly burned by the fire started by her own daughter.
Cheryl strokes her mother's face and tells her that everything is going to be different.
It is clear that more of Cheryl's dark side will be shining through for this season of "Riverdale" and fans are excited to see what will happen next for her character.
