It's not uncommon for musicians and actors to dabble in politics. After all, they're popular figures who also have causes they believe in and are at times genuine people who want to give back to the community. Another artist to express his desire to serve the American community is musician Robert James Ritchie, better known as Kid Rock. Back in July, the 46-year old musician expressed his desire to run for the Michigan Senate.

Campaign merchandise began popping up on a new political website promoting Kid Rock, which he confirmed was genuine, Us Weekly reported. However, it seems that some people are already against the idea of the artist running for a position at the Senate.

Watchdog organization files a complaint against Kid Rock

Kid Rock hasn't made huge strides to confirm his candidacy for the Michigan Senate just yet, but already, the nonprofit organization called Common Cause filed a complaint against Rock on September 1. The watchdog organization claims that the musician had already been campaigning throughout the summer season without even registering with the FEC.

In a statement to The Wrap, Rock responded with heated emotion, "I am starting to see reports from the misinformed press and the Fake News on how I am in violation of breaking campaign law. No. 1: I have still not officially announced my candidacy. No. 2: See #1 and go f--k yourselves."

Artist greets everyone a happy Labor Day weekend

In the scathing response to Common Cause, Kid Rock also greeted everyone a "great" Labor Day on Monday, September 4. He stressed that unlike most people, he will be spending it working in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Meanwhile, Common Cause is pushing for further investigation on Rock, as they claim that the artist "violated the candidate “violated the candidate registration and reporting requirements, contribution limits and restrictions and ‘soft money’ prohibitions of FECA.” FECA is the Federal Election Campaign Act, which they believe Rock is already a "candidate" under.

The group wanted Rock to be investigated because his candidacy violation "[poses] a direct threat to democracy" in the U.S.

Musician wants to serve his hometown

Born Robert James Ritchie, Kid Rock rose to fame when he released a record called "Devil Without a Cause" back in 1998, selling 14 million copies worldwide. He is a five-time Grammy Award-nominee and hails from Romeo, Michigan. The 46-year old artist hopes to serve the Michigan Senate if elected.
