ABC revives ‘American Idol’ and hires Katy Perry as one of the judges

Some shows cannot die that fast. Especially if it has been on since 2002. Although Fox already aired the supposed-to-be last season of “American Idol” (The Farewell Season), ABC is reviving it, bringing back Ryan Seacrest as the host and the “Unconditionally” singer to be one of its judges.

In the third week of May, Perry announced on Twitter that she is going to be a part of the newest American Idol, calling out future contestants to join her at the auditions. “So thrilled @ABCNetwork is bringing back @AmericanIdol, and I’m bringing it back to the music. [See] you at auditions!” she tweeted.

Auditions for the all new season of AI has finally started

Auditions are set to start next week but some of the judging seats are still empty. It was previously reported that Luke Bryan, Lionel Ritchie, and Charlie Puth may take the remaining seats. And just recently, Luke Bryan surfaced as the second judge, ready to join Perry according to PEOPLE.

A country singer-songwriter, with over 7 million albums sold worldwide, is definitely going to be a good addition. As for the third empty seat, it will not be long before ABC reveals the newest judge.

Seacrest shared his delight in hosting another season of the show in June. “Who am I if not the ‘American Idol’ guy?” he said, “If I could do it forever, I would do it forever.”

For Perry, she is definitely going to earn a lot this year with her "Witness" tour still going strong and a high amount of salary coming from the show.

She may just make it to Forbes’ list of highest paid musicians soon, representing a lot of women, who are not paid well in the industry.

Katy Perry will kick off her Witness tour this September will be in Boston on the 29th and 30th before she moves on to New York next month. Definitely, the "Thinking of You" singer will be giving us more great music this year, as she finally comes back to the music industry.
