Season 4 of "Gotham" is underway, and things picked up from where Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) left off in the season 3 finale. After that confrontation with Ra’s al Ghul (Alexander Siddig), it seems the teen millionaire has started his transformation into fighting crime and the eventual evolution to "Batman."
It may be too early to tell with just one episode titled "A Dark Knight: Pax Penguina" done.
There are more to come, but the ending of the pilot episode showed Bruce getting a list of people who have gotten their licenses from Penguin’s (Robin Taylor) lawyer, Mr. Penn (Andrew Sellon). Naturally, this sets the tone for more vigilante work ahead for the young millionaire.
Will Bruce and Jim Gordon eventually work together?
The duty of maintaining peace and order in "Gotham" is looming like a tough one. Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) will have his hands full trying to deal with criminals who are now divided. Thanks to the Penguin’s celebrated “License of Misconduct,” the GCPD is now placed in a precarious situation as far as apprehending the bad guys.
The license means that crooks can carry out their handy work without getting arrested. However, that is not the way Gordon sees it as he continues his fight against crime. The same belief is shared by Bruce who is against the new law favoring criminals.
Gordon and Wayne have worked together before though at a lower tone. The former is still unaware of Bruce’s double identity though it may only be a matter of time before he finds out. Once that happens, will the two work together to save "Gotham? "
Will the final curtains fall after season 4?
In previous seasons, critics and fans were pondering on the possible appearance of the caped crusader. However, most may have overlooked the previous interview The Wrap had with executive producer Danny Cannon and creator Bruno Heller last July 2014.
At the time, both explained why they were looking for a series that did not center on the “Dark Knight.” They wanted a show that would tell the story of the city which would eventually draw out the famed crime fighter. The bad news is that once that happens, it would be the end of the show.
The plots of Batman’s evolution are there
Unless showrunners have something else in mind, the tone set by the first episode clearly shows a life of fighting crime for Bruce. At some point, there is a chance that the teenager’s goal could be paused should things get out of hand.
However, judging the look on Bruce Wayne’s face, all that may be left is the Batman suit which could be introduced at some point. If that should happen, the belief that this would be “Gotham’s” last season is likely to gain more noise.
