The HBO hit show “Game of Thrones,” which is scheduled to begin production of season 8 this October, is looking for actors to play the role of two new characters who will appear in the final season, according to the online community, Watchers On The Wall.
The report said that "Game of Thrones" casting is now underway in the United Kingdom and that the roles are for children.
According to WOTW, which was able to obtain from its sources specific descriptions of the casting call for “Game of Thrones” season 8, the parts involve a Northern girl and a boy who are between the ages of 8 and 10.
Northern girl
The part of the Northern Girl was described as a “stand-out” role for a young female who possesses a strong mind and a fighting spirit. This new character has a Northern accent, was raised in a family of soldiers, fearless, straight-talking, and notable for her “dauntlessness and integrity.”
Young boy role
According to the casting description, the show is also looking for a young actor who can “completely own the scenes” he is set to appear into. The young boy’s character was described as having a good and distinctive face, physically fit, and has agility. He came from a poor background and “has to fight to make his way in the world.”
The role of the Northern girl is scheduled to be filmed in November while the young boy, who is assumed to have multiple scenes, is scheduled for shooting in late November and December, according to the WOTW report.
Who are these characters?
With such a rather detailed “Game of Thrones” cast descriptions, fans are of course speculating as to who these characters could be.
The Northern girl for instance closely resembles Lyanna Mormont, however, it is doubtful that the role will be recast given the superb performance that Bella Ramsey gave for the beloved character.
Another theory is that this is a flashback character of Lyanna Stark given her strong Northern accent but there was already a young version of her back in "GoT season 6."
The most plausible theory put forward out there is that the young girl is entirely a new character, probably a member of one of the noble Northern houses, the Umbers or Karstark perhaps, who will play a role in the battle against the Night King and his armies of the dead.
The young boy’s character meanwhile is being speculated to be flashbacks of Littlefinger, Varys, or Gendry though how they are relevant to the storyline of the final “Game of Thrones” episodes in rather vague.
Like the Northern girl’s character, this role could be entirely new and one that could catch either the adoration or loathing of avid GoT followers.
