“Game of Thrones” is headed for its final season, but it looks like there are still new characters to be introduced. The television show’s blog, 'Watchers on the Wall,' shared a new casting call on Tuesday. The show is looking for a young boy and a girl to play important roles. As the “Game of Thrones” Season 8’s production is about to start this November, the series’ staff and crew are now gearing up for its final epic adventure.
New characters coming
“Game of Thrones” Season 8 is said to be needing a young girl to play the role of a Northern girl between eight to 10 years old.
The youngster should have an accent and be a strong-minded child with a strong fighting spirit. The young man, on the other hand, is only described as a boy and might not be a Northerner. However, he will be in the same age bracket - ranging from eight to 12 years old.
The lad will portray the role of a poor, but physically fit boy, who will need to completely own every scene he appears in. However, according to Mashable, it seems like it is a little too late to introduce new characters in the television show.
But knowing George R.R. Martin, he is quite capable of presenting new roles whenever he likes it. In fact, “Feast for Crows” and “Dance with Dragons” have a lot of new characters in it.
Possible roles of the two new characters
Mashable reported that the two new roles added in “Game of Thrones” Season 8 could participate in the coming Great War.
As the White Walkers are now making their way to Winterfell, their attack could be more dramatic if there are young casualties.
There is also the possibility that these young kids are going to be part of a flashback sequence.
The Northern girl could be the young Lyanna Stark. To recall - in the previous season of the series based on George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” novel, Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) saw her aunt getting married to Rhaegar Targaryen (Wilf Scolding). She gave birth to his bastard brother, Jon Snow (Kit Harington).
So, Bran might use his Three-Eyed Raven ability to further investigate Lyanna Stark's past. Alternatively, the young boy could be seen in the flashback of Gendry’s (Joe Dempsie) life. The moment that he learned that he is a Baratheon and his father is the late King Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) could be featured.
“Game of Thrones” Season 8’s release will be later than usual. As fans are used to watching the television show every year, there are hopes that in 2019, that the season will incorporate long shows with exciting graphic effects.
