Game of Thronesseason 8 is still a long wait for many fans of the immensely popular show, but HBO has something to offer GoT avid viewers who may be feeling pangs of separation since season 7 ended.

This December, the cable giant will release a “Game of Thrones” spin-off titled “Conquest and Rebellion," which will recount the history and lore of Westeros. It is a narration of the turbulent era, which occurred and shaped the continent prior to the actual events at the start of the TV series.

7-part animated mini-series

This is not, however, the GoT spin-offs that G.R.R Martin and HBO are planning to make after the final season of “Game of Thrones” but rather a 7-part animated mini-series.

It begins with the retelling of the history of Valyria, its destruction, how the Targaryen came to Dragonstone, and the rise of Aegon the Conqueror.

The first chapter of the animated “Game of Thrones” spin-off titled, “Valyria’s Last Scion: House Targaryen,” was already released by HBO on YouTube.

But in order to see the whole 45 minutes mini-series, fans must purchase the “Game of Thrones” complete seventh season DVD & Blu Ray. The set, which will be available on December 12, includes a bonus disc of "Game of Thrones" animated history.

Featured narrators

The voices of several “Game of Thrones” cast will be featured in the animated videos as narrators. Harry Lloyd who played Daenerys’ brother Viserys Targaryen, recounted the first chapter of the series.

According to Digital Spy, other GoT actors whose voices will be featured include Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Pilou Asbæk (Euron Greyjoy), Conleth Hill (Varys) and Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger). They are expected to narrate the histories of their respective houses as well as other significant events in Westeros.

Aegon’s Conquest

By its title, “Conquest & Rebellion,” expect to see and learn the historical details on how Aegon the Conqueror, together with his sisters Rhaenys and Visenya, conquered and united the Seven Kingdoms.

This was the story Arya Stark was referring to way back in GoT Season 2 during a rather cozy conversation she had with Tywin Lannister at Harrenhal.

Arya even admitted that Visenya was her heroine.

Robert’s Rebellion

We could also learn more information about Robert Baratheon’s rebellion, which ended 300 years of Targaryen rule and forced Daenerys and her brother to flee beyond the Narrow Sea into Essos.

This is surely an interesting animated series to watch given that the “Game of Thrones” spin-off being developed by G.R.R Martin and HBO could be one of the events that occurred during this tumultuous and defining period.
