A case involving the high-profile Duggar Family was heard on Monday. Reality TV stars Jill Duggar Dillard, Jessa Duggar Seewald, Jinger Duggar Vuolo and Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth are suing Washington County and Springdale, Arkansas over "19 Kids and Counting" Josh Duggar's incest. That ex-TLC star is also suing police for their handling of his pedophilia admissions. Authorities have motioned a judge to dismiss the "Counting On" Celebrities' lawsuits.
Duggars fail to end son's sexual molestation
No one, including Josh or his wife Anna Duggar, denies that former reality TV star molested his sisters. Mom Michelle Duggar said incest took place right under her nose. "19 Kids and Counting" dad Jim Bob Duggar even admitted to covering up his teen son's pedophilia after he caught Josh fondling his sisters' genitals and breasts. But then he found Josh sexually assaulting them again years later. The "Counting On" star finally called the police.
Duggars fault cops for stopping pedophilia
The Duggar girls claim the police promised confidentiality but investigators said that according to the Freedom of Information Act, victims names cannot always be suppressed, especially in violent or sexual crimes.
The "19 Kids and Counting" stars were minors when the investigation was underway. But they were over 18 when investigators released their names. "Counting On" Jill Dillard posted on Instagram that they are suing because child victims should be anonymous. But that's not why authorities are trying to shut down the celebrities' suit.
Cops fault opportunistic Duggar family
Washington County and Springdale, Ark., officers want the Duggar family lawsuit stopped because the "Counting On" women are seeking punitive damages. After their names were released In Touch Weekly printed them, so the reality TV celebrities will be suing that publication too. Officials called it a misguided waste of taxpayer money.
They claim the "19 Kids and Counting" Duggars are exploiting the sexual abuse for monetary gain and called them "cash grabbers."
Josh Duggar's lawsuit hinges on sisters' outcome
US District Court Judge Tim Brooks hasn't made his decision. But it will decide the fate of Josh Duggar's similar lawsuit. The dad of five is suing because he was a minor at the time of the incest. The TLC celebrity says he was promised protection of privacy. He planned to join the Jill, Jessa Seewald, Jinger Vuolo and Joy Forsyth in their lawsuit but was disallowed by a judge at their insistence. The reality television star's case will be decided after theirs.
