Amid all the ruckus about her ongoing relationship woes with Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie has decided to go back to acting and reprise her role as "Maleficent." According to People, Jolie has already accepted the role to be part of Disney's "Maleficent 2." Apparently, Jolie has been taking things in stride as she managed to joke that she accepted the role because she is now the main breadwinner, following her divorce with Brad Pitt. After the divorce news broke out, the 42-year old actress moved out of the mansion that she shared with Pitt, bringing their six kids with her.
As for the sequel for "Maleficent," Jolie shared that they are currently working on the script and that they're expecting it to be a very strong sequel.
Jolie's role in the 2014 Disney movie was a big factor for its success. The movie was able to earn $750 million worldwide, making it one of Disney's biggest hits to date.
A big comeback after a year off
When Jolie and Pitt announced their divorce, the former noticeably drew away from the limelight. She didn't accept any acting projects whatsoever and focused more on working behind the scenes. Apparently, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie valued their privacy and wanted to protect their kids from the paparazzi and other inconveniences that their divorce might bring.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie revealed that she intentionally put her acting career on hold, to spend more time with her kids as they brave through the divorce. However, after a year off, it looks like Jolie is ready to return to her first love - acting. She said that she is very excited to return to the big screen as "Maleficent," and she's looking forward to having fun while filming.
Will one of her kids make an appearance?
In the first installment of "Maleficent," Angelina Jolie's youngest daughter, Vivienne, was part of the movie as she took on the role of the young Sleeping Beauty. Now that it has been confirmed that Jolie will be reprising her role as the dark yet lovable character, many are wondering if one of her children will be making another appearance in the movie.
The final cast of characters for "Maleficent 2" has yet to be revealed.
Meanwhile, In Touch Weekly reports that Brad Pitt has been trying to speed up the divorce with Jolie. Contrary to the previous reports that the ex-couple had decided to put their divorce on-hold, Brad Pitt has reportedly sought a bifurcation to speed up their divorce.
