After five seasons on hgtv, the hugely followed show "Fixer Upper" will premiere its final season in November.

Stars Chip and Joanna Gaines have been delighting viewers for almost five years with their quirky relationship and funny quips since the show's premiere in 2013.

Each episode shared the story of a couple, young and old, choosing a fixer-upper—a cheap house in need of extreme demolition and renovation.

Chip and Joanna personally rebuilt and added the "Gaines touch," complete with the beloved shiplap and antique decor, to each one.

Why must it end?

According to E! News, the couple wrote on their blog, At Home, that it was a difficult decision to end the show, but it is the right one. Joanna said they are looking forward to spending time with their children and getting some rest.

"It is with both sadness and expectation that we share the news that season five of Fixer Upper will be our last," stated the couple through a blog post. "While we are confident that this is the right choice for us, it has for sure not been an easy one to come to terms with."

The Gaineses will continue to live in Waco, Texas—the setting for "Fixer Upper"—and renovate homes.

Their business, Magnolia, will also continue to sell and supply "Gaines style" furniture and decor.

Their humor and ability to design beautiful homes from scratch are what fans will always remember.

The couple has redesigned over 200 homes since they started flipping houses.

The couple's beginning

While longtime fans of the show will always remember Chip's weird jokes, most viewers do not know how the couple met.

Chip, an entrepreneur since childhood, began flipping houses when he was a sophomore at Baylor University. Prior to this, he had no experience flipping homes. According to Parade, he used the money from his one-man landscape business and a small loan from his parents.

After graduating from Baylor with a business degree, Chip met Joanna in her father's auto repair shop. She had just returned from New York City and was working for her father.

Joanna, who had no experience with interior design, began painting, cleaning, and decorating Chip's flips. When they married less than two years later, they moved into one of Chip's rentals—which became their first flip.

In 2012, HGTV producers approached the couple after seeing their work online. They were offered a show and immediately accepted. After its premiere in 2013, the show's rating skyrocketed and absorbed a huge fan base.
