International singing artist Taylor Swift on Wednesday came back on Twitter to show official images of her newest album, “Reputation.” But a contributor at The Fader wrote that her new Album Cover Art looks like a T-shirt design, among other interesting visual criticisms.
The Fader’s Jordan Darville compiled tweets from social media users who laid down images of Swift’s new album alongside some remarkable photos of t-shirts and past albums. One Twitter user said that her album cover art reminded him of a clothing design by a brand named Tapout.
Swift’s album “Reputation,” which she shared on her Twitter and Instagram accounts, showed a gray scale headshot of her sporting a messy hair, and wearing a simple outfit, with a chain-like choker wrapped around her neck.
The design featured newspaper text, with headers written in Old English-style fonts. The design itself reminds the onlooker with tattoo stores and vape shops.
Another netizen named Peter Bravestrong wrote that people are freaking out about the new album because it is reminiscent of the 1981 cover art by Prince. He posted a photo of Prince behind newspaper images. Meanwhile, a Twitter user also associated the album cover with an artwork by Sergio Albiac titled “You Are Not In The News.”
Alluded to Kanye West?
Swift’s “Reputation” album was reportedly an allusion to a recent conflict the artist has with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Vox reported that Kim Kardashian released tweets that implied the female pop singer as a snake.
Netizens flooded her social media pages with emojis of the reptile.
Vox also reported that Kanye West included the name “Taylor” in his controversial lyrics for a single titled “Famous.” Prior to her Wednesday post, Swift has been cryptically posting graphics and GIFs of a reptile tail on Twitter.
During the previous weeks, she was also involved in a groping case trial with a former radio DJ named David Mueller.
The female singer won the case and was awarded $1 million worth of damages, according to earlier reports.
