Earlier this year, The CW's "Riverdale" changed the landscape for teen television series and made an addictive show that kept audiences guessing. By posing the question, "Who murdered Jason Blossom?" viewers did their own detective work to come up with the possibilities. In the penultimate episode of the 13-part series, it was revealed that Jason's father, Clifford, was in fact the murderer. However, a few more big questions were left in the season finale: Why did Clifford Blossom kill himself? What was he hiding? More importantly, who shot Fred Andrews? One of the main suspects in the shooting of Fred is the man without a face, Hiram Lodge, Veronica's father.

In "Riverdale" season 2, however, viewers will finally get to know the man who was previously behind bars.

Hiram Lodge to be introduced in sophomore season

Many have wondered about the face behind the mysterious Hiram Lodge, who seems to have a hand in everyone's business in "Riverdale" season 2. Many are already aware of his massive wealth, but executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa explained to Entertainment Weekly that viewers don't know the extent of his power just yet. According to Aguirre-Sacasa, "We've built up someone who has very dark dealings and who has a criminal past...He’s operating at a much higher level and has tentacles everywhere."

What are Hiram Lodge's intentions?

Now that Hiram Lodge has made it out of prison and is heading back to Riverdale, it will be interesting to see how the dynamics change among the characters who are close to him, especially Veronica, Hermione, and Archie.

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa may have hinted that Hiram was behind the shooting of Fred, as he posed the question, "How will Archie figure into his plans?" This question will be answered when "Riverdale" season 2 arrives this fall.

Will the Lodge patriarch be an antagonist?

As per Screenrant, the official character description for "Riverdale" season 2's Hiram Lodge is that he's "a ruthless, handsome, charismatic businessman" who aims to reconnect with his wife and daughter, who is "the apple of his eye." He's also a man who has endured a financial fiasco that nearly "destroyed" him, so it will be interesting to see if he is truly redeeming himself, or if he has several tricks up his sleeve.

Mark Consuelos cast as Hiram Lodge

"American Horror Story: Asylum" actor Mark Consuelos has been cast as Hiram Lodge in "Riverdale" season 2, where he's set to possibly cause trouble for the Lodge and Andrews family. The 47-year old actor began his career with "All My Children," and has appeared in "Missing," "Age of Love," and Amazon's "Alpha House." He'll head to Riverdale when the show returns this fall. In the meantime, fans can binge-watch the first season on Netflix.
