Prince George, the third in the line of British royal succession, is attending a new school in London known for its words, “Be Kind.” Such words reflect the general view of the character and work of his late grandmother, Princess Diana.
An official statement from Kensington Palace announces that Prince William and Princess Kate “are delighted” to have found a school for Prince George, the Thomas’s London Day School in Battersea.
Their royal highnesses are confident the little prince “will have a happy and successful start to his education" in the school, the statement added.
The announcement also highlighted Thomas Day School’s great emphasis on a set of core values, which includes kindness, courtesy, confidence, humility and learning to be givers, not takers. Prince George is expected to start attending Thomas’s Battersea School this September.
Different school
This latest news about Prince George’s new school is contrary to reports during the early part of the year, which stated that William and Kate’s son will be attending the Wetherby School in Notting Hill, England.
Prince William and Prince Harry both attended Wetherby School, however, Prince George will not be following in their footsteps.
This was also one of the reasons why the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge decided to transfer residence to Kensington Palace in London from their current residence at Anmer Hall located within the Queen’s Sandringham estate. At present, Prince George is still attending the Westacre Montessori School in Norfolk, England.
Thomas’s Battersea School is estimated to be a 30-minute drive from Kensington Palace.
Significant moment for the family
Before the official announcement by Kensington Palace, Thomas’s Battersea School’s administrators informed parents of their students that starting September, Prince George will be a pupil at the school.
The principals said that “‘this is clearly a significant moment for their family and most certainly for Thomas's.” They added that like so many parents, the Duke and Duchess have put a great deal of thought into the choice of their eldest child's first ‘big school.’"
Best English education money can buy
Thomas’s Battersea School is described as a co-ed school located at the south London. It has a total of 540 students between the ages of four and 13. Thomas Day School costs over $7,000 per term and is said to offer “a broad curriculum with music, physical education, French, art and more.”
Prince George’s future school is also described by the UK’s The Good Schools Guide as “big, busy, and slightly chaotic.” The guide said it is ideal for “cosmopolitan parents who want their children to have the best English education money can buy.”
