“Supergirl” Season 3 is set to immediately address the suffering of Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist). It can be recalled that the Girl of Steel had to send Mon-el (Chris Wood) away from Earth after Team Supergirl released lead into the atmosphere. This is the only way to defeat his Daxamite raise, aiming to invade and conquer National City.

As expected, this decision hugely affected Kara Danvers. According to CBR.com, Benoist explained during San Diego Comic-Con International how her role will deal with the situation in season 3.

Exploring Kara Danvers’ identity

The 28-year-old actress shared that “SupergirlSeason 3 will pick a few months after the events of the Season 2 finale. Just like usual, Danvers will continue to dedicate herself as the National City’s Supergirl. However, due to so much heartbreak, she might not be able to instantly deal with what happened to Mon-El.

“She is really questioning whether she is a human or an alien and which she wants to be,” says Benoist. Meanwhile, Danvers will reportedly explore herself this season as balance in her life is going to be a bit off.

Melissa Benoist’s ultimate wish for Kara

Viewers will see Supergirl throwing herself into work. She is where every crime is being committed.

While she continues to work in CatCo, fans will witness her intense doubt if living as Kara Danvers is still the right thing to do.

When asked about her ultimate desire for Kara Danvers, Benoist shared how she wished for her role to possess the perfect formula. She hopes that Kara can have the man she loves, the simple job she wanted, and be the superhero she wants to be for National City.

At the same, Benoist also wished to find a way how to juggle all these aspects.

On the other hand, Danvers struggled in Season 2 whether she can have all of this or not. In Season 3, she is about to experience the struggle of dealing with human feelings while being a hero. As she keeps herself busy, Kara will unknowingly complicate her relationships.

Moreover, Danvers has already experienced many losses ever since she was a kid. Before Kara arrived on Earth, she witnessed the destruction of Planet Krypton. Aside from this, her step-father Jeremiah Danvers (Dean Cain) on Earth was killed as well. Now, it seems like losing Mon-El emptied the last hope of happiness in her heart.

Executive Producer Jessica Queller added that “Supergirl” Season 3 is, unfortunately, the time where Kara must know the cost of being human. The third season airs on October 9, Monday, on The CW.
