Last week, Luann D'Agostino and her husband Tom decided to file for Divorce together in Sag Harbor, New York. This was a move that was anticipated by many, but it was a surprise at the same time because Luann has been so fond of her husband. In their joint divorce statement, Luann didn't explain why they were getting a divorce but she was clearly not happy about how she was being portrayed in the public.

Just weeks prior to this divorce decision, D'Agostino had been seen slapping her husband in public and reports surfaced about Tom, saying that he was hanging out with an ex-girlfriend over the weekend.

Needless to say, Luann was starting to look more and more like a fool.

Blinded by love

Luann D'Agostino may have been planning her divorce for quite some time. It is no secret that she was madly in love with Tom when they first met. This happened when she was filming the previous season of "The Real Housewives of New York.”

She couldn't stop gushing about the relationship. During the current season of the show, one of Luann’s friends was caught on a microphone, revealing that Luann would much rather go through with the wedding and then divorce Tom than to call off the wedding. Now that statement is coming back to the surface and it sounds like her friend could not have been more right.

Did she purposefully wait with the divorce?

Seven months after tying the knot, Luann and her husband Tom are divorcing. Some people call attention to the timing of the divorce as she filed for divorce when Bravo was done filming the "Real Housewives of New York" reunion special. It may have been timed, so she didn't have to address anything on the show.

Up until a week before they filed for divorce, she claimed they were happy.

This way, Luann doesn't have to address any questions in regards to her divorce until next season, and she may be in a better place to talk about it. The timing is also interesting because she can now stay away from the public eye for quite some time, as Bravo usually doesn't start to film the new season of the show until a few months from now.

One can imagine that she needs some time to recover and perhaps deal with her emotions before facing the truth and before facing the fact that her husband was not as loyal to her as she was to him.

What do you think about the timing of Luann D'Agostino's divorce? Do you think her friend Barbara was right in that Luann would prefer to wait to get divorced until the show wasn't filming anymore?
