The 2017 Teen Choice Awards featured heaps of outstanding performances and recognitions. Some exceptional talent and blockbuster movies earned multiple nominations. Last night's event brought superb entertainment that made the audience cry and laugh. Acceptance speeches also delivered empowering messages to the young generation. Here are the highlights of this year’s awards event.

Heartfelt Speeches

Chris Pratt surprised the audience when he came out to accept his award. The actor has separated from his wife, Anna Faris, and others speculated he would not make it to the event.

Zendaya gave a very touching speech when she accepted the Choice Summer Movie Actress award. She encouraged the young generation to be educated and to be concerned with their nation amidst the hatred and injustice that the whole world is presently struggling with.

The Disney star reminded them that they are the future leaders. She also encouraged them to have a voice and make a stand against the negative events around them, E! News noted.

Interestingly, the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” star also came with a non-revealing outfit. She looked very wholesome in her pajama-themed ensemble.

Multiple recognitions

The 19th Teen Choice Awards featured multiple recognitions for some outstanding artists.

Selena Gomez received 11 nominations for her performances as an actress and singer.

Among her multiple nominations, she was nominated for Choice Summer Song, Choice Female Artist, and Choice Changemaker.

Justin Bieber came next with nine nominations. He was nominated for Choice Male Hottie, Choice Electronic/Dance Song, and Choice Latin Song.

The movie “Wonder Woman” won three awards. The lead stars won Choice Action Movie Actress and Choice Action Movie Actor awards for Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, respectively.

The movie also won this year’s Choice Action Movie award.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” also received three awards this year for the Choice SciFi Movie category. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” won three awards for the Choice Summer Movie category, according to Deadline.

Powerful performances

This year’s event overflowed with showcases of outstanding skills.

The night was filled with powerful performances by Louis Tomlinson, Bebe Rexha, PrettyMuch, Clean Bandit, Zara Larsson, Rita Ora, KYLE, Jude Demorest, Brittany, and Ryan Destiny. French Montana and Swae Lee also performed together with the Triplets Ghetto Kids.

The 2017 Teen Choice Awards was even more splendid with the presence of Ed Sheeran, Tyler Hoechlin, Bella Thorne, Zendaya, Olivia Munn, Millie Bobby Brown, Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin. Teen stars Grace VanderWaal and Maddie Ziegler also added glitz to the show.
