Fans of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” seem to be warming up to the idea of a Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen romance. Twitter lit up with comments from #Jonaerys shippers who felt the strong chemistry between the King of the North and the Mother of Dragons.

After the scene where Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen seemed to share an intimate moment where the two characters had a heart to heart talk about Viserion and Dany’s dragons, fans seemed to feel the heat radiating from Jon and Dany. When Jon called Daenerys by the nickname Dany, hinting at a new familiarity and offered to bend the knee to his “Queen,” comments and memes exploded online.

“Here's the thing about #Jonaerys... Dany's mom was her dad's sister. So hooking up with her nephew is an improvement! #justifyingittomyself,” Twitter user Lindsey Bell said, referring to a possible incest between the two characters. The show is currently in the process of revealing that Jon is fathered by Dany’s eldest brother Rhaegar based on the R+L=J theory. If this unfolds, it will mean that Jon is Dany's nephew.

Despite the potential incest though, fans seem willing to accept the pairing. Twitter user Handbasket Gaming said that knowing the blood connection between the characters will make it difficult to ship the pair, but it is not impossible.

Still, there are fans who are adamantly against #Jonaerys, the ship name forged from Jon and Daenerys’ combined names.

They even accused showrunners of only pushing through with the storyline to service fans rooting for a Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen romance.

A done deal

In a previous “Game of Thrones” Inside the Episode, D.B.

Weiss acknowledged that there was a strong chemistry between Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow and Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys. He made the comment after fans questioned what the relationship of the two characters will be as the show moves towards the final season.

While the showrunner admitted that there was a spark, he said that the chemistry generated by Jon and Dany was not something they had planned.

He clarified that it was not because of something they had written.

A recent “Inside the Episode” interview with “Game of Thrones” director Alan Taylor hinted otherwise. According to the director, author George RR Martin already alluded that the whole point of “Game of Thrones” was the convergence of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. He said that the scene from the last episode “Beyond the Wall” was only a culmination of Martin’s vision for the series.
