The romance between Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and Hollywood actress Amber Heard is over. One year after dating each other, Heard confirmed on social media that she and the billionaire are no longer together.
In a post on Instagram via @amberheard, the "Aquaman" actress said that she and her former beau Elon Musk remain close despite breaking up. Heard also said that she'd like to keep quiet about the split and then thanked the public for respecting their privacy.
Elon Musk also confirmed on social media that he and Amber Heard are no longer dating.
He wrote a comment on one of the actress' other Instagram posts to address the issue on their romance.
"Although Amber and I did break up, we are still friends, remain close and love one another," Elon Musk posted on his ex’s Instagram as per CNN, adding "who knows what the future holds."
Could the exes reunite?
Elon Musk’s message sparked speculations that the former couple will likely to get back together again because of the way they still regarded each other. Sources disclosed via People that the Tesla boss and “Aquaman” star ended their romance on good terms, but it was their busy careers that kept them apart.
While they were together, Amber Heard even had a good relationship with the billionaire’s kids.
Musk, who divorced his wife in 2016 following eight years of separation, is a dad to a pair of twin boys and a set boys who are triplets.
Elon Musk and Amber Heard began dating last spring after very public divorce from Hollywood star Johnny Depp whom she was married for five years. People close to the Tesla billionaire revealed that he had been eyeing the actress since spotting her on the set of a movie production in 2013.
When did they first meet?
Elon Musk did a cameo for "Machete Kills," which starred Amber Heard and Danny Trejo, but he had no scenes with the actress. Following this, sources said that Musk kept emailing the producers of the movie to set him up with Heard, who was still married to Depp back then.
Musk got Amber Heard to agree to have dinner with him, but then the actress did not show up.
The billionaire remained relentless in his pursuit, and he told Heard’s people that he wasn’t looking to date her at that time.
“If there is a party or event with Amber, I'd be interested in meeting her just out of curiosity,“ the Tesla boss stated in one of the emails. “I know she's in a long-term relationship, but Amber just seems like an interesting person to meet.”
