In the latest "Game of Thrones" episode we could see that Daenerys believes how she can't have children. This belief, of course, dates back all the way back to the end of season one and something Mirri Maz Duur said right after she left Khal Drogo in a catatonic state. And when Dany asked her when Drogo will be back, she replied cryptically: "When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, when the seas go dry, and mountains blow in the wind like leaves, when your womb quickens again, and you bear a living child, then he will return, and not before."
While Daenerys believes that what Mirri Maz Duur said was nothing but an exaggerated speech to show how impossible it is for her to see Khal Drogo again, there are some theories that state otherwise.
So in this article, we are going to cover some of them.
'The Prince That Was Promised' prophecy
There is a theory that suggests that Mirri Maz Duur is talking about the 'Prince That was Promised' who is also referred as the Khal of Khals. According to Reddit user kaiokenx04, the sun from the first part of the prophecy is a metaphor for light that will be born in Westeros after the army of the dead is defeated.
The second part about the dry seas and the mountains blowing in the wind could be referring to the seas that will be frozen because of the army of the dead will march on Westeros, followed by the storm the White Walkers are said to bring.
The last part is, of course, about Dany's pregnancy and according to this theory, this baby could be "The Prince That Was Promised"
Dany's Vision
Even though the theory stated above sounds very interesting, we are going to propose an alternative.
Let's start by talking about the show's version of Daenerys' House of the Undying vision.
As you can see from the clip above, the vision first showed Daenerys in the snowy throne room in King's Landing which is almost completely destroyed. What's interesting is that she never touched the Iron Throne, which means that she will never be Queen and that she will turn her attention to the threat from beyond the Wall.
That was where the next part of her vision took place before she finally entered the tent where Khal Drogo and her unborn son were. When speaking to Drogo, Daenerys quoted Mirri Mas Duur's prophecy which makes us think that is somehow connected with this vision. In our opinion, Daenerys will get pregnant again since we all know she is going to hook up with Jon Snow. And the bitter part of the bittersweet ending George R. R. Martin talked about, could be Daenerys dying in childbirth, just like her own mother.
