Fans are now wondering who the next villain will be in the coming “Arrow” Season 6 after the death of Prometheus (Josh Segarra). The television series’ lead star Stephen Amell, who plays the role of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, talked about the coming new antagonist in a round table discussion at Comic-Con International.
The serial killer had caused a lot of losses to the Team Arrow, so it is now a big question whether the new big bad could surpass everything he had done. With that, the 36-year-old star teased that there might be more than one baddie coming and it will be the worst.
The new antagonists
“You don’t follow [Prometheus] up with one villain,” Stephen Amell said about the new “Arrow” Season 6 antagonist (via CBR).
The Canadian actor then asked if any of the event goers were fans of the television series “24.” Although the new antagonist is not an actor from the mentioned show, it is the way that they have introduced the baddies on the program. He even said that Paul Blackthorne’s acting as the bad character is tremendous enough on a lot of levels.
Michael Emerson will be playing one of the television series’ scoundrels. The “Lost” alum might take his sweet revenge against someone from the Team Arrow. Anatoly Knyazev (David Nykl), on the other hand, will also return as the possible main baddie against Oliver Queen.
The grinder that brings out the best in the characters
Executive producers Wendy Mericle and Marc Guggenheim revealed that they will try their best to top Prometheus as the biggest bad with the coming new villain in “Arrow” Season 6.
“I’m a big believer that you always try to swing for the fences,” he said. He explained that the big part of the show is that they are putting the characters through what they call “meat grinder” every year to bring out the best in them.
Aside from Josh Segarra’s incredible performance, what made Prometheus’ character invaluable was the way they put Oliver through this grinder that made the most of their roles.
Alternatively, Mericle teased that the new antagonist is going to be the “biggest of all big bads.” “I’m going to be very cagey about that one, sorry,” he said.
He even teased that they now have planned some “meat grinder moments” in the coming new chapter.
He then revealed that the “big creative choice” that they are going to do this season is for everyone, and not just Oliver but the whole Team Arrow, is going to feel the consequences. “That’s a big part of the engine that drives Season 6,” he hinted.
