Dylan O'Brien has said that his role in upcoming film "American Assassin" has helped him come to terms with his accident on the set of "Maze Runner: The Death Cure". O'Brien was seriously injured on the set of "Maze Runner" in Vancouver, British Colombia, in March 2016. According to Page Six at the time, the actor was reportedly involved in an incident with a car, resulting in serious injuries. Filming of "Maze Runner" was subsequently put on hold, with 20th Century Fox coming forward to say that production was on pause until the actor recovered.

O'Brien was hospitalized after the incident and has since refused to talk about the accident in interviews. However, the star spoke to The Associated Press on July 24 about how his role in "American Assassin" helped him get back into acting after the accident.

Lead role in "American Assassin" helped O'Brien recover

The star told The Associated Press that after the accident he questioned his ability to return to acting. O'Brien said that his lead role in "American Assassin" was a "step" in his recovery and that it helped him enormously. The star told the publication that being on set in a safe environment, with stunt work done correctly and safely, made a huge difference in his recovery. The 25-year-old actor said that he felt like not working for a long time after the accident, but he believed that throwing himself back into it was the best thing to do.

"American Assassin" features a lot of fight and stunt scenes. O'Brien said he didn't want to give up on acting and he made the decision to continue although it was hard at the time. He added that experiencing a trauma himself let him understand his character better in "American Assassin". O'Brien plays the part of CIA counter-terrorism agent Mitch Rapp, who loses his fiancee after she is killed by terrorists.

O'Brien returned to final season of TV series "Teen Wolf"

After much speculation as to whether or not O'Brien would feature in the final season of "Teen Wolf", it was confirmed during the final scene of the season's premiere. O'Brien, who plays the much-loved character, Mieczyslaw Stiles, in the TV series said that he really wanted to be a part of the final season.

Speaking to Bustle last month, the actor said that "Teen Wolf" has been like an acting school to him as he had no experience prior to his role in the series. O'Brien spoke fondly of his time with "Teen Wolf", saying that he loved his character and all of his different elements. The series has been showing for seven years and the final season began airing last Sunday.
