It is safe to say that July was a red-letter month at the films and television programs. “The Guardians of the Galaxy” exceeded expectations, becoming one of the major hits this summer, while other franchise entries like “The Mummy” did not impress the audiences. IGN reported that at least three mega-budget movies would be released in coming weeks. The list includes “Detroit,” “Ingrid Goes West,” and “Kingsman: The Golden Circle.”

‘Detroit.'

In January 2016, it was reported that Mark Boal and Kathryn Bigelow had joined hands to make a film about the 1967 Detroit riots.

“Game of Thrones” actress Hannah Murray has been recruited to play the lead in “Detroit.” Other cast members are John Boyega, Will Poulter, Algee Smith, John Krasinski, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack Reynor, Ephraim Sykes, and Chris Chalk.

In February 2016, Variety reported that “Detroit” had commenced principal photography in Boston. Scenes were also filmed in Massachusetts and London. Upon its release on August 4, Annapurna Pictures will handle the North American distributions, while Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer will distribute the movie in England, Canada, India, China, and other major countries of the world.

‘Ingrid Goes West’

“Ingrid Goes West” debuted at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, where it won two Waldo Salt Screenwriting Awards.

This comedy film is directed by Matt Spicer and scripted by David Branson. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film’s approval rating is 76% based on nineteen reviews. It will be released in the United States and Canada on August 11, 2017. The cast includes Aubrey Plaza, Elizabeth Olsen, Wyatt Russell, and Billy Magnussen.

‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’

In April 2016, Fox confirmed “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” during a press conference, but it was not clear whether Matthew Vaughn would return to direct or not. Finally, in May 2016, Matthew told Deadline that he was returning to direct and write the film.

In June 2016, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Fox had recruited Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Taron Egerton, and Mark Strong for the leads.

In September 2016, Matthew Vaughn said in a statement to Yahoo that the shooting had wrapped and the movie would be released in 2017. Vinnie Jones, Hanna Alström, Michael Caine, Matt Letscher, and Poppy Delevingne play the leading characters in “Kingsman: The Golden Circle.” The movie will swing into theaters on September 21, 2017.
