"The Young and the Restless" spoilers reveal that the soap has been hinting about a major character return. Celeb Dirty Laundry reports that it is very likely that the character of Adam Newman will be returning to Genoa City in the near future. While there are some conflicts about whom fans would like to see portray the role, it seems that viewers are mostly in agreement that Adam needs to return to the show.

Will Adam return with amnesia?

The report reveals that Adam Newman will likely be back on the show and that when he returns he could have amnesia.

While everyone in town believes that Adam is dead, his return with amnesia could be a major reset for the character. Of course, if Adam does return, "The Young and the Restless" viewers would want to see him reunite with Chelsea. A reunion is possible even with amnesia, as Adam would have to fall in love with Chelsea all over again, and likely have fans swooning in the process.

As many "Y&R" fans will remember, Michael Muhney portrayed the role of Adam Newman, but he was fired after allegedly groping his female co-star, Hunter King, multiple times. However, the actor later to his Twitter account to reveal that absolutely did not sexually harass King, and that the entire thing was a "weird, tragic internet rumor" that had no real sources or quotes from real people involved.

The actor also cleared up rumors that he was in talks to join the cast of "General Hospital," as rumors have been flying that he may be appearing on "The Young and the Restless'" soap opera rival. However, Muhney says that he has "never" been talks with "GH" to appear on the show.

After Michael Muhney's exit as Adam Newman on "The Young and the Restless," the role was recast with actor Justin Hartley.

Hartley is a fan favorite soap opera actor, who portrayed the role of Fox Crane on the short-lived NBC soap opera "Passions," for many years.

However, the actor didn't stay in the role of Adam long as he landed a huge gig on the NBC series "This Is Us," which was a major hit for the network and one of the best new shows of the 2016-2017 television season.

The series has already been renewed for two more seasons, and Hartley plays the lovable and hunky character of Kevin Pearson. The series co-stars Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz, and Sterling K. Brown.

A new actor to be cast?

If Michael Muhney doesn't return as Adam Newman, "The Young and the Restless" needs to find a leading man that will stick around for the long haul. The latest rumors reveal that Jason Gerhardt may be the next Adam, but nothing concrete has been confirmed as of yet.
