George R.R. Martin’s “The Winds Of Winter” has been delayed for years, and fans are already losing patience. When HBO officially confirmed that there will be five “Game of Thrones” spin-offs with GRRM’s confirmation that he is developing all five of them, fans are disappointed again. Apparently, this means that the book’s release will be delayed once again. However, recent reports claim that the author might be able to release the book before the year ends. The author said that the only way for readers to calm down is to finish the book, but it seems that he has a lot on his plate right now and in the coming months.
The author is going to be busy next month
In his Live Journal that he calls "Not A Blog," “The Winds of Winter” author said that he’s going on a busy trip in August with lots of commitments to attend to. “But come August I’ll be off again, first to NYC for a wedding and the usual round of publisher and agent meetings, then off to Finland for Worldcon then on to Russia for a con in St. Petersberg…Two trips for all of 2017 is the least amount of travel I’ve done in twenty years."
That said, fans are worried again that George R.R. Martin won’t have more time on “The Winds of Winter.” He previously said that there are a lot of things happening in TV and film including “Game of Thrones” season 7, which is set to air on July 16.
He also revealed that there will be a couple of other TV projects coming soon that he can’t tell anyone just yet. GRRM even admitted that he doesn’t know when these things would come to pass, prompting fans to speculate that he is not releasing the book anytime soon.
Will someone help him finish the book?
Earlier reports suggest that author Neil Gaiman was spotted several times at George R.R.
Martin’s home in New Mexico, leaving fans to believe that he is co-writing “The Winds of Winter” with GRRM. Others even suggest that the “American Gods” author is GRRM’s editor. However, there were no confirmations between the two authors whether or not they are helping each other to finish the sixth novel of the “A Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy series.
A fan also asked him if fantasy author Thomas Burnett Swann is a good candidate to help him finish the book. Unfortunately, the famous author said that it's not possible.
Do you think that George R.R. Martin would be able to finish “The Winds of Winter” this year? Everyone’s hoping that he does, but let’s just keep our fingers crossed... for now. We actually never know!
