There is a bunch of surprising turn of events happening in the coming “The Originals” Season 5. Fans are about to witness another time jump after the abrupt change in the previous season. Following Hope Mikaelson’s growth from a baby to a toddler, she will be now seen as a beautiful teenager.

The tribrid will be now played by the newly-added cast Danielle Rose Russell. The 17-year-old star, who portrayed a role in Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson’s movie “Wonder,” will be playing a recurring role. Aside from "The Vampire Diaries" spin-off, there are swirling rumors that she is about to have her television series.

An open door for a new story

At the end of “The Originals” Season 4, Hope was seen entering Salvatore Boarding School that was founded by Caroline Forbes (Candice King) and Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis). However, there was no official statement why Niklaus Mikaelson’s (Joseph Morgan) daughter already attended that school.

This could mean a new spin-off series is coming? In an interview with the show’s executive producer Julie Plec with Entertainment Weekly in March, she said that she just can’t make any promises about the new spin-off yet, but they have intentionally left some storylines open-ended.

The showrunner explained that she loves everything that the boarding school represents and its world per se.

But, she can't tell anything about yet as it needs to be explored in an “entirely new show,” which she hasn’t started to think of. However, she hinted that there is still a possibility of a new show as they never let a storyline open for no reason. “They’re open with a hope, not a promise,” she said.

Moreover, the speculations about the previous season finale weren’t just felt by fans but by the show’s another executive producer Michael Narducci as well.

“We knew there was still a lot of story for this family,” he said in an interview with TV Line. He along with the other people behind “The Originals” believed in the show’s quality and the phenomenal characters it has. Thus another spinoff won’t be a surprise.

The crossover reunion

Meanwhile, now that “The Vampire Diaries” has ended with eight seasons, there are strong assumptions that there will be character crossovers coming in “The Originals.”

In fact, it was recently confirmed that Candice King is going to reprise her role as Caroline Forbes in the coming “The Originals” Season 5, TV Line reported.

However, details about her appearance are quite in secrecy as it is not yet revealed if she’s going to stay for the entire season or in just one episode.

To recall, Caroline has been linked to Klaus Mikaelson in the third and fourth season of “TVD.” In the seventh season of the supernatural drama, they once again talked over the phone. Lastly, in the series finale, he donated $3 million to her founded Salvatore Boarding School.
