In the middle of whispers and rumors talking about the possibility of having more crossover characters to be on board in the upcoming "The Originals" season 5, Paul Wesley revealed that he is not going to reprise his role as Stefan for a cameo in the new installment.
As per Christian Post, the actor has made it clear that he's not going to make a cameo in the new season of "The Originals." Despite the fact that Season 5 plots might be relatively connected to Mystic Falls, Paul Wesley explained that Stefan's fate has already ended in season 8. He said, "I don't think so.
I think Stefan has been laid to rest."
Here's why Paul Wesley doesn't want to reprise his role in 'The Originals'
While many fans are really looking forward to seeing Stefan's participation in the series, the 34-year old "Beneath the Blue" actor revealed that he won't be taking on any supernatural roles anytime soon as he also wants to explore and try to "do different things."
Though he did not mention anything in particular, everyone is aware of the fact that Paul Wesley has been busy working behind the cameras. Now that "The Vampire Diaries" has bid farewell after season 8, the actor is reportedly more focused on his career as a director.
"I've been preparing myself to direct a feature film, and directing television is a really incredible resource," Wesley told Variety.
"It's an incredibly well-seasoned machine. You have all of this crew, and all of this talent, and it's a support system."
Julie Plec might bring Elena and Damon in 'The Originals'
Julie Plec has recently taken over the role of a show runner in the upcoming season of "The Originals." Even before she decided to run the show for season 5, the massive requests to see "Delena" once more on another project have been nonstop.
Dobrev and Somerhalder's success in portraying the characters of Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore in TVD is one reason why fans couldn't just stop hoping to see them reunite once again. With this, the whispers and rumors about the two possibly joining the new set of crossover characters in "The Originals" season 5 will be rampant before the series premiere.
Alaric Saltzman's (Matthew Davis) appearance in season 4 apparently brought more excitement among fans, who have been looking forward to seeing their favorite Vampire Diaries characters after the series had officially ended in March this year.
Given the fact that Plec will be running the series, the possibility to see Elena and Damon in "The Originals" future is more likely. However, this remains nothing but a rumor until The CW and show runners will give their final say.
