Little teasers about “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” are now slowly emerging after D23 Expo and San Diego Comic-Con 2017 took place. Just like “The Empire Strikes Back” from the original trilogy, there are swirling rumors that the Rian-Johnson film will feature the victory of the First Order.
Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) has been planning to bring down the Resistance and the Republic with the help of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and his alleged Knights of Ren. But before fans could see what would happen, here are some predictions and assumptions how could the Light side be defeated by the Dark Side.
Kylo Ren and Rey
In a list made by Metro, it revealed the possible ways that the First Order could crush the Resistance and the Republic in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”
The first possibility is if Rey (Daisy Ridley) turns into the Dark Side. There are earlier reports that Rey is a Gray Jedi, the one in the middle of the Light and the Dark Side. With that, she can still be easily lured to join the First Order.
To recall, in her battle with Kylo Ren in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” he invited her to join them and be his apprentice that made her confused. As her Force abilities are growing to be stronger, Supreme Leader Snoke might want her to be by his side. Also, there are assumptions that Kylo Ren might change his heart and go back to the Light Side.
This might bring a big twist at the end of the movie.
Back in “The Force Awakens,” Rey had a vision where Kylo Ren was leading the Knights of Ren. If this vision takes place in “The Last Jedi,” the Force of the Dark Side will be strong. Thus they can easily attack the Resistance and the Republic. Also, as Kylo Ren has been overpowered by Rey in their fight, he might give his best shot this time and prove himself that he can bring them down.
Luke and a new weapon
The First Order and the Resistance have been looking for Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) since in “The Force Awakens.”
And now that he has been found, the Resistance could once again train new Jedi along with Rey. However, as he is now back, the First Order may want him dead. Supreme Leader Snoke, too, might be afraid of what will be the effect of his return on Kylo Ren.
Another possibility that the Resistance might be brought down is the First Order’s use of a new super weapon. As the Death Star and the Starkiller Base have been both crushed, the Empire might now master building an armor that won’t be easily destroyed.
