It looks like fans are going to meet some new characters and creatures in the coming “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern, and Benicio del Toro will be the new additions to the movie’s expansive fictional universe.
Also, there will be a new animal that can be found on Ahch-To that will befriend R2-D2. Jason Ward, editor-in-chief of Making Star Wars, revealed that a new type of bird called Porg would be seen in the upcoming movie resting on the fan-favorite robot’s head.
New bird species
Making Star Wars’ anonymous source revealed that there would be a scene in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” that this Porg will be seen on R2-D2’s head.
“It is adorable," the insider said (via Comic Book). Earlier reports disclosed that Porgs are creatures from Ahch-To, sharing the place with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). It is described as a penguin-like bird, a sanctified creature that is an important part of the planet’s ecosystem. This species can be seen alive on the screen with the help of complex puppetry system.
Newly added characters
Aside from the new creature, Kelly Marie Tran will be seen in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” as Rose Tico, the maintenance worker in the Resistance.
Benecio del Toro, on the other hand, plays a mysterious role named DJ. His character is described to be a “shady individual” who has an unclear alliance. Also, Laura Dern will be seen in the movie’s eighth episode as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo.
The 50-year-old “Jurassic Park” star is the most elegantly dressed Admiral in the Resistance helping everyone during the conflict with the First Order. According to Metro, she will play as a substitute to General Leia Organa’s (Carrie Fisher) role in the military force. Aside from her stunning outfit, she also has noticeable pink hair.
As many fans are intrigued with her character, Lucasfilm story group member Pablo Hidalgo cleared that she is human and her different colored-mane is just part of her culture.
‘Episode 8’ storyline
Meanwhile, in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” fans will see the return of Luke Skywalker from his self-imposed exile to train Rey (Daisy Ridley) to become a Jedi Knight.
The battle between the Resistance and First Order continue. Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Finn (John Boyega) led the battle of the light side against the evil plot of General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson). Lastly, the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) and his apprentice Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) are still thinking of the ways to bring the Resistance down.
