Jace Wayland (Dominic Sherwood) has been receiving mix signals in ShadowhuntersSeason 2. After his lips locking session with Maia Roberts (Alisha Wainwright), the hero of the Mortal and Dark Wars was seen making out with Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara) at Seelie Court.

However, both girls cleared that the kiss meant nothing. Thus he didn’t have to be confused about it. In an interview with TVLine, Dominic Sherwood talked about his character and his unfortunate life when it comes to girls.

The unbearable life of Jace

“What’s he doing wrong?” the 27-year-old actor told TVLine.

He then asked the publication if his character as Jace Wayland hasn’t been a nice guy at all. He now feels terrible that no one wants to be with the Co-head of the New York Institute. Unfortunately, his romantic misery is part of the writer’s plan for his role, and it is “very much in line.” In fact, there are more despairs coming to his life more than what he is currently experiencing.

The “Vampire Academy” star explained that the show’s writers keep on telling him that things will get worse first before it gets better for his character.

“I’m like, ‘When does it get better?’” he asked. He revealed that they are already done filming “Shadowhunters” Season 2, but the life of his role didn’t get better at all.

He, too, unveiled that they have talked about the show’s third chapter and, still, things are not better for Jace Wayland. Hence, as he is also tired of waiting, he asked the scriptwriters when his character will finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Sadly, they also have no idea when things will be better for him as it just keeps getting worse.

Adding twists to the story

Moreover, Dominic Sherwood also revealed that the hookup that happened between his character and Maia Roberts was something he discussed with the “Shadowhunters” Season 2’s executive producer Darren Swimmer.

“Well before it made its way onto the script,” he cleared. He explained that the writers just wanted to explore his character a little more, although they already enjoyed Jace Wayland and Alicia’s chemistry on screen.

However, he admitted that they have to be more careful as the show’s story is based on Cassandra Clare’s “The Mortal Instruments.” He explained that they have to respect the book’s storyline, although they are also trying to give their fans something new by adding some unexpected twists and turns. So, this is exactly the reason why the kisses he had shared with Clary Fray and Maia Roberts are meaningless. “They just wanted to explore each other for that moment in time,” he said.
