Robert Pattinson confirmed that he and British singer FKA Twigs are indeed engaged, but he remained secretive about it. He was interviewed by Howard Stern earlier this week, and he said that he and FKA Twigs are “still kind of engaged.”
The 31-year-old actor and the 29-year-old singer were first reported to be engaged back in April of 2015. They never confirmed or denied the reports, and many have been questioning whether or not Pattinson and FKA Twigs are still together since they were last seen back in May during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
Pattinson on choosing to keep his love life private
Pattinson is not a stranger about the paparazzi and the media talking about his love life. In the past, he was in a relationship with Kristen Stewart and their relationship was very public that it also took a toll on them. According to Us Weekly, Pattinson said that he decided to keep his relationship with FKA Twigs as private as possible even if it is one of the most frustrating things in the world. He noted that he had to decide “whether you want to let the crazy people in.”
He also gushed about FKA Twigs and described her as an amazing and super talented person. The two started dating in 2014 and got engaged after six months of being together.
Couple was bullied by online trolls and haters
In a report by People back in September of 2016, Pattinson and FKA Twigs responded to the backlash they received since coming out as a couple. Many have trolled FKA Twigs for dating Pattinson because she is black. FKA Twigs is half Jamaican and half Spanish.
FKA Twigs took to Twitter to say that she is genuinely shocked and disgusted “at the amount of racism that has been infecting my account.” She noted that racism is unacceptable both in the real world and online.
Actor talks about almost getting fired from “Twilight” franchise
Aside from talking about his relationship with FKA Twigs, Pattinson also opened up about almost getting fired from the “Twilight” franchise. CNN reported that during his interview with Stern to promote his new flick “Good Time,” Pattinson revealed that producers told him he was going to get fired if he does not act the way they wanted him to act.
Pattinson said that he was too serious about playing the role, but they did not want that. He barely smiled and was making his character’s vibe a gloomy one instead of a mysterious feel. The producers even reached the point where they gave him a copy of the “Twilight” book and highlighted words and phrases that implied Edward Cullen smiled.
“Good Time” is slated to hit theaters this August 22.
