Get those pineapple snacks ready! USA Network just revealed some major news about the revival of “Psych,” one of the most popular shows in the network’s history. It was revealed in May that the show would return in the form of a movie, which will reunite major cast members James Roday, Dule Hill, Maggie Lawson, Corbin Bernsen and Kirsten Nelson for the first time since the 2014 series finale.

San Diego Comic Con reveals a special surprise

The cast and crew appeared in a special panel today at San Diego Comic Con. Among the guests were Jimmi Simpson, who served as moderator.

Simpson played the Yin/Yang obsessed Mary Lightley. Those of you who watched the show remember that Mary died at the hands of Mr. Yang in the season four finale. He made a brief return as a ghost in the musical episode when Yin (played by Ally Sheedy) died.

During the panel, Simpson had a very special surprise for his fans. He revealed that he will be returning for the movie. The big twist? He will be reprising the role of Mary Lightley. While it is unknown how he will make the return (in flashbacks or as a ghost—or is he alive after all?) fans were thrilled to have their favorite racquetball enthusiast back with Shawn and Gus.

What about Tim?

As for Tim Omundson, who played Detective Carlton Lassiter, the cast and crew promise the he will still be a part of the movie “in one of the best scenes.” Earlier this year, Omundson suffered a stroke that halted production and caused several major scenes to be rewritten.

Although his health is improving, Omondson’s part in the movie had to be reduced drastically due to his rehabilitation.

Other movie news

As previously reported, the movie will also be set in San Francisco instead of the show’s native Santa Barbara. The series ended with Chief Vick, Juliet, Shawn and Gus moving to San Francisco, while Shawn's dad Henry Spencer, Lassiter and his new partner, police officer Buzz McNab, stayed behind.

There is no word yet whether or not McNab (played by Sage Brocklebank) will make an appearance, but we will see some other familiar faces along with the main cast. Ralph Macchio, Cary Elwes and Kurt Fuller, who played quirky coroner Woody, are all set to appear in the movie.

As for special guest stars, it was also reported that Zachary Levi, Jazmyn Simon (Dule Hill's fiancee) and WWE superstar Charlotte Flair will also be part of the movie.

The two-hour Psych movie will air on USA Network in December, just in time for the holidays.
