A blind item from noted TV source TV Line suggested that a fan favorite will die in the show's season premiere this coming fall. TV journalist Michael Ausiello wrote that it will happen in one of the big five networks: ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and The CW.

Michael Ausiello hinted that the said character is an "original series regular" but such a scenario will still have to get an approval from the network. If the bosses agree, then this character's murder will usher the flashback that will detail what really happened before the death in eight episodes.

The TV scribe also narrowed down the shows to the following nine: "The Exorcist," "The Blacklist," "Supergirl," "Blindspot," "Scorpion," "Designated Survivor," "NCIS," "scandal” and "Elementary."

Is it in 'NCIS'?

For several months now, "NCIS," which returns for season 15 this September on CBS, has been besieged with rumors that Mark Harmon (Leroy Jethro Gibbs) is leaving the series. Unconfirmed reports say that the actor has either been sick or has finally decided to pursue other acting work, having been tied to a TV show for 15 years.

Reports also say it is likely David McCallum (Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard) who could be leaving the show. Like Mark Harmon, David McCallum has been in the cast since 2003 but given his age, he could already be considering retirement.

Is it in 'Supergirl'?

In May, "Supergirl" producers announced Floriana Lima has opted not to become a series regular for season 3 as Maggie. Fans assumed it will be her murder that will happen in the show as hinted in the blind. Floriana Lima, however, only joined the series in the second season so she's not an original cast member.

Others said it could be Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) who will likely be killed off in the "Supergirl" season 3 premiere on The CW. It will once and for all settle Calista Flockhart's status on the show.

When "Supergirl" moved production from Los Angeles to Vancouver, the actress decided she will scale down her participation in the show due to family obligations.

Calista Flockhart only appeared in a total of four episodes last season, out of the 22.

Is it in 'Scandal'?

Readers on TV Line were quick to say the scenario sounded like something that could happen in "Scandal" and the murdered character would be Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III (Tony Goldwyn). Since "Scandal" is in its final season when it returns on ABC, this looks like a fitting end.

However, "Scandal" executive producer and creator Shonda Rhimes pulled this once before. Will she do a similar plot stunt again?

NCIS” premieres season 15 on Sept. 26. “Supergirl” returns for season 3 on Oct. 9. ABC has not yet confirmed the premiere date of “Scandal” season 7 but it will take the Thursday slot this fall.
