Katy Perry is an internationally recognized artist. This year has seen a change in style and direction for the singer. It has been confirmed that Perry will be this year's host for the MTV Video Music Awards. Perry is extremely excited to be offered this opportunity and released the news through her social media. Fans of the artist can not wait to see her hosting the show which lacked a core presenter last year in 2016.

Perry is the best choice for the VMA's

According to Variety, the head of the VMA's has commented on this year's host Katy Perry.

Bruce Gillmer has stated that he is very excited to see what Perry brings to the stage. The star is known to be a great performer and was by far the number one choice for the VMA's this year. Gillmer also stated that this year's show is set to be one of the most spectacular and diverse shows in the history of MTV.

This will be Perry's very first time presenting the Video Music Awards. Last year in 2016 there was no real host to the show. Screen time was split between Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele as the show's commentators but there was certainly an air of spectacle that 2016 VMA's missed out on. The 2015 VMA's were hosted by Miley Cyrus.

Katy Perry has taken to social media to express her excitement at hosting the MTV award show this year.

The star's fans are thrilled for the singer's success. This is not the only high profile job that Perry had landed this year. According to Billboard, the star will also be starring as a judge on "American Idol."

The singer is nominated for awards

According to the Daily Mail, not only is Katy Perry this year's host of the VMA's but she has also been nominated for several awards.

The singer has released several new tracks this year including "Bon Appetite" which had a unique music video. The singer has received a total of 5 nominations.

These include the best pop, best direction, best visual effects, best art direction and best collaboration. Earlier this year the star released the music video for "Bon Appetite" and it shocked the world.

This video is up for best art direction. Katy Perry's collaboration with Calvin Harris, Big Sean, and Pharell Williams is up for best collaboration.

The 32-year-old has stated that she has been working hard with MTV to make this show memorable. In a promo for the VMA's the singer is seen dressed as an astronaut. Fans are wondering if this has something to do with the theme for this year's award show. They will have to wait until August 27th to find out.

This success for Perry comes ahead of her announcement for her world tour. She released a new album this year titled "Witnessed" and she is excited to bring her new music to her fans around the world.
