Former "General Hospital" actor Michael Sutton will reprise his Daytime Emmy-nominated role for another round.

Michael Sutton joins 'General Hospital' again

TV Line exclusively announced his TV comeback as Stone Cates. Michael Sutton is set to return in August to the longtime soap opera. Prior to his upcoming appearance, he famously played the role of the AIDS-stricken Stone from 1993 until 1995.

Sutton's Stone was already an HIV-positive individual while he was in a relationship with Robin (Kimberly McCullough). They ended up having a baby, but fortunately for Robin, their love child did not get infected.

Portraying a character with a controversial disease was something new during that time but the show put their faith in Sutton. Despite ending his role, his iconic portrayal earned him a nomination at the Daytime Emmy Awards.

Stone Cates is a ghost?

Sutton recently shared a throwback "General Hospital" photo online. The post featured Sutton with his on-screen brother and fellow actor, Maurice Benard (a.k.a. Sonny). "General Hospital. Sonny & Stone once again like the good old days," Sutton added. "Always a pleasure to work with my brother."

Stone Cates may have died in the series but Sonny (Maurice Benard) might see him yet again.

According to the outlet, he is likely to appear when Sonny needs him the most. Stone might even give him some advice during "a time of great crisis."

There is the possibility that "General Hospital" will use the same method as before. In 2010, Stone was seen in Robin's visions when she got trapped inside a well. There is still no updates on the plot, but this provides a clue in terms of how the show can include Stone Cates in the storyline.

Sutton also had small roles in various TV series and movies, including "Inventing the Abbotts" alongside Liv Tyler and Joaquin Phoenix. The actor currently works as a California-based real estate agent.

Stone Cates isn't the only one who came back to "General Hospital." This week, former child actress Carly Schroeder (Serena Baldwin) played an older version of Scott's daughter.

"General Hospital" tapped Carly Schroeder to join them in honoring Peter Hansen who passed away a few months ago. Despite having a sad reunion, it was, ultimately, a nostalgic moment for Schroeder, the other cast members, and the viewers.
