The appearance of singer Ed Sheeran in the "Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 1" was not so unwelcoming for the fans of the famous award winning TV series. Sheeran was seen having a meal under a tree with his fellow soldiers; he was singing a medieval song for his fellow fighters' entertainment as Arya Stark passed them by on her horse.

The young Stark joined the soldiers' meal at their invitation and Sheeran uttered a line or two in the conversation. The show's fans were not so forgiving of Sheeran's presence as his popularity as a singer must have distracted the essence of what "Game of Thrones" is all about, according to critics of the TV series.

Maise Williams is a big fan of Ed Sheeran

The nameless assassin Arya, portrayed by Maise Williams who is a superfan of Sheeran, commented on liking the song and so did fans coming to the aid of the balladeer. Sheeran's supporters twitted back saying that the song was a break from the heavy action and drama of the well-acclaimed "Game of Thrones" TV series.

But the cameo guesting of Sheeran irked the die hard fans of the TV series and began throwing negative comments at the musician. The "Game of Thrones" Season 7, Episode 1 episode "Dragonstone" controversy is not the first time fans have attacked Sheeran on his Twitter account. He has previous episodes of similar Twitter attacks from disgruntled Twitters.

Singer temporarily shuts down Twitter account due To tweets of mockery and disdain

With the influx of negative comments raining on Sheeran's Twitter account, the singer temporarily deleted his Twitter, a day after his cameo role in "Game of Thrones" Episode 1 - "Dragonstone." His supporters were wondering why he suddenly deleted his account saying that he shouldn't have for they loved his role in the TV series.

Although there was no specific cause provided for the deletion of his account, It was only put up to speculation that the reason why was due to the scornful tweets he had been receiving from followers of the "Game of Thrones Thrones" TV series. Sheeran later re-emerged from the momentary hiatus from social media.

Early this year, he said that he cannot read social media comments due to some negative comments that could ruin his day. He wanted to give it up as some people lambasted him with mean and hateful tweets.

The singer will have a future role on "The Simpsons" this fall. He will be portraying Lisa Simpson's love interest in the series.

"Game of Thrones" Episode 1 -"Dragonstone" stayed on track and broke television records on premiere night. The TV series drew 16 million viewers. Sheeran can keep his head high and could look his online bashers straight in the eye, that is if he ever sees one.
