Police in Georgia arrested singer Aaron Carter over the weekend under suspicion of driving under the influence, as well as marijuana possession. His brother, Nick Carter, showed concern on Twitter, and Aaron slammed him, noting that the supposed worry was not genuine.
The 29-year-old singer was detained at the Habersham County Sheriff’s office until 9 p.m. Habersham County Captain Floyd Canup said that aside from the suspicion of DUI and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, he is also charged with possession of drug-related objects. It was not revealed whether drug paraphernalia was found inside Carter's vehicle, CNN reported.
Aaron’s girlfriend was with him
The girlfriend of Aaron, photographer Madison Parker, was also arrested for marijuana-related offenses. She was in the passenger seat.
Aaron posted bail amounting to $4,610 and was released on Sunday Afternoon. It was unclear if Parker also stayed in jail and if so, it was not reported how much was needed for her release.
Singer misses performance in Kansas City
Aaron was traveling to Kansas City, Missouri to perform with Flo Rida for the Kansas City Live! event, which was scheduled on Saturday. He also had another appearance in Kansas City the day after. He missed both his appearances as a result of his arrest.
Someone from Aaron’s team took to his Twitter account to say that he had transportation issues so he was not able to make it.
Later, Aaron himself released a lengthy statement regarding the matter.
In the statement, he said that he has been traveling non-stop to promote his single “Sooner or Later.” He had a new tire that went out of alignment so he went to Auto Zone located in Cornelia, Georgia. Accordingly, he was inside the auto shop when police came and arrested him.
The statement also said that Aaron has a medical license for medical marijuana in order to treat his anxiety. Aaron believes he was arrested because he is a celebrity. They also noted that there is video of the incident which will prove their claim that he was not in a moving vehicle when he was arrested for suspicion of DUI and marijuana possession.
The singer also apologized and said that they would reschedule the missed performances. The next performance will be in Alabama, E! News reported.
Thank you ALL for your prayers & well wishes. I am so sorry to all my fans that I missed. The truth will come out! Read my statement here: pic.twitter.com/XaiKqUeXxh

Aaron slams brother Nick
According to People, the older brother of Aaron, Nick, took to Twitter to say that he loves his sibling no matter what.
He added that Aaron should know that he is there for him if he needs any help. In another tweet, Nick reminded Aaron, “Family isn’t always easy, be we're all here for you.”
To my brother: I love u no matter what & if u feel the need to reach for help, I am here and willing to help you get better.

Aaron was not happy with Nick’s tweet and said that his brother should have reached out to him personally via a phone call and should not have offered help on a very public social media platform.
Aaron said it is not cool for Nick to use him for his PR and kick him while he is down. Despite that, he said that he loves his family.
Nick seemingly responded to Aaron’s statement about calling the latter by retweeting a post from his wife Lauren Kitt Carter. Lauren asked Aaron to have Parker text her about his new number since he changed it again.
Not the first arrest related to marijuana possession
In 2008, Aaron was arrested for marijuana possession. During that time, he denied that he was doing drugs. Years later, he checked into Betty Ford Center in an attempt to undergo a program for his emotional and spiritual issues.
In 2016, when he was interviewed on “Oprah: Where Are They Now?,” he said that he is suffering from depression so he is self-medicating by taking drugs and drinking alcohol. He said his depression was due to his parents’ divorce.
