The first footage from Ava DuVernay’s new film “A Wrinkle In Time” is finally here. The trailer was released online on Monday, July 17. Ava DuVernay, the director of “13th” and “Selma,” joined “A Wrinkle in Time” in April 2016. The movie is based on a novel of the same name by Madeleine L’Engle.
“A Wrinkle in Time” follows the character of Meg Murray as she travels through time and reaches a strange world to find her missing dad with a troupe of companions. The plot beautifully captures our imaginations and resonates with the audiences.
Who is in the cast?
A report by Christian Post reveals that “A Wrinkle in Time” stars Storm Reid as Margaret, Oprah Winfrey as Wich, Reese Witherspoon as Whatsit, and Mindy Kaling as Who.
The rest of the star-studded cast includes Zach Galifianakis, Chris Pine, Levi Miller, Deric McCabe, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Michael Pena and Andre Holland may make cameo appearances in the film, but the director has not confirmed anything in this regard. When casting for "A Wrinkle in Time" was underway, the filmmaker told New York Times that he wanted to have a movie that represented everyone. It led to a diverse cast with an abundance of talent.
The new clip reveals the full makeup of all cast members and they look amazing.
The screenplay of “A Wrinkle in Time” was written by Jennifer Lee, who had previous experience with animated films as she worked on “Frozen” like projects. It’s not the first time that the Madeleine L’Engle novel is adapted into a movie. Back in 2005, ABC released a short film of the same name and similar story.
Meg loses her father in darkness
Chris Pine takes on the character of Meg Murray’s dad, who gets lost in another world. Murray decides to travel through time as she wants to bring her father home. “Throughout the movie, you will explore new galaxies,” Ava DuVernay said in a statement to The Atlantic.
According to the director, viewers would get a chance to see how a space scientist discovered the truths of nature.
Strange creatures kidnap him, and it is up to his daughter Meg Murray to find him. In July 2016, Variety reported that Oprah Winfrey was in talks to play Wich.
