X-Men: dark phoenix is on its way to becoming another hit from Fox and Marvel. As already reported by Blasting News last month, 'Dark Phoenix' is the next “X-Men” movie we have been waiting for after “X-Men 2" as Fox finally formalizes plans for the next installment of the X-Men franchise. This happens in an instant, but they’ve set a new director in lieu of #Bryan Singer coupled with a brand new cast to portray a new villainous character in the movie.

X-Men series new director

Simon Kinberg is known to be writing and at the same time producing X-Men franchise movies since “X-Men: The Last Stand.” Thus, Kinberg would now undoubtedly take his career at Fox a notch higher this time and after months of speculation on whether or not there will be a change of director, Fox officially announces that Kinberg will direct “X-Men: Dark Phoenix,” and will give Kinberg the spotlight for him to showcase his directorial prowess.

Even though having a first time director on a critically-acclaimed project may expose the film on a high risk, Simon Kinberg knows the X-Men world more than anybody else related to the film. Being the writer and producer of several X-Men installments should give him an instant advantage and would make X-men fanatics rely on his capability.

Latest villain character Lilandra

Perhaps the most interesting part, outside of Fox deploying its writer-producer turned director with one of their most acclaimed franchise, is that Golden-Globe Best Actress Jessica Chastain is in talks to play the main villain in “X-Men: Dark Phoenix,” Shi'ar Empress Lilandra, as reported by Variety.

Avid fans of the Phoenix Saga would know that Empress Lilandra's part of the story would mean so much for the movie.

Thus the actor to play the role must be chosen carefully, as opposed to what was done in “X-Men: The Last Stand.” Reports recently resonate the name of Angelina Jolie as a possible new character in “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” which probably is Empress Lilandra but with the high probability of Chastain being part of the movie, it seems unlikely that Jolie is eyed to take the role of Empress Lilandra as well.

Finally, recurring stars James McAvoy as Professor X, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and Michael Fassbender will still be playing as Magneto. Nicholas Hoult will also be playing as Beast for the 2nd time as well as GOT star Sophie Turner returns as Jean Grey for the sequel. Movie production begins in Montreal and the hit movie sequel will be in the theater on November 2, 2018.
