Princess of the Amazons
Before she becomes Wonder Woman, she is Diana, the Princess of the Amazons, and lives on Themyscira with her Amazon sisters. She is an excellent fighter, immortal, divine and striking, heroic and beautiful. Her Amazonian training helped her develop a wide range of extraordinary skills and tactics in hunting, and combat. She possesses an impressive arsenal of advanced amazon technology, including the Lasso of Truth, a pair of indestructible bracelets and a tiara which serves as a projectile.
Her writer and creator, William Moulton Marston, drew inspiration from early feminists, and especially from birth control pioneer Margaret Sanger.
The character first appeared in October 1941 and was first cover-dated in Sensation Cosmetics #1, January 1942.
'Wonder Woman' on screen
In 1967, the producer of Batman TV series (1966) William Dozier bought the rights to the character and developed a pilot on the heels of the Batman series' success. In it, Diana was a neurotic, boy-crazed, self-obsessed and pointless superhero living with her overbearing Jewish mother. The pilot failed.
The second version was the 1974 ABC TV movie, starring Cathy Lee Crosby. In this version, Diana had lost her powers. She did not wear the comic book costume or the tiara trademark. Diana was developed as a low-cost version of the female 007, wearing a long stick.
One year later, ABC released the new TV series "The New Original Wonder Woman," starring Lynda Carter. The show followed the Golden Age era, during the second World War. Diana rescues an American pilot lost on Themyscira and joins him to end the war.
Now, the latest film version has released, we have found the most suitable actress for Diana, Gal Gadot.
