For many of us, the television universe has become not just fragmented but atomized. These days, a show is considered successful if it draws a minimum of four million viewers across a variety of platforms.
I still remember my first year of college when I barely watched television. It was not set up in my room, and I always disliked going to the multipurpose area to watch a program.
Plus, most of what I wanted to watch was already available on Hulu and Netflix. Then I came home for summer holidays and decided to watch a few shows on a bigger screen. Notwithstanding several outliers like “Scandal” and “The Walking Dead,” we don’t always watch programs the same way we used to. For me, June is a perfect time to delete the things that graze TV’s junk food aisles and loiter in my DVR. A few shows with the potential to be game changers have been described below.
‘The Mist’
Christian Torpe has created this American series for Spike. “The Mist” is based on a horror novel of the same name by Stephen King.
The 10-episode show is set to premiere on June 22, 2017. It explores the lives of a group of people in Maine. An unexplained mist suddenly envelops the city, creating a lot of problems for locals. The residents soon learn how to cope up with the uncertain situation and decide to fight the monsters. I feel that “The Mist” would exceed my expectations as it features Morgan Spector, Frances Conroy, Alyssa Sutherland, and Gus Birney in the leading roles.
‘The Defiant Ones’
HBO is set to release a ten-episode series called “The Defiant Ones.” Set in Florida and New Orleans, the story revolves around Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre who face a lot of problems during their lives. The first episode will air on Sunday, July 9, 2017.
Following a few teaser trailers, the network has promised to deliver a full-length clip tonight, so I am excited to know more about the characters of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. Aren’t you?
‘Salvation.'
“Salvation” is one of the most anticipated American dramas to date. It is set to premiere on July 12, 2017, and consists of thirteen episodes. A full-length trailer, released on May 10, 2017, has created excitement among fans. The show centers on the ramification of the discovery of an asteroid that may impact our planet in coming months. Charlie Rowe, Jacqueline Byers, Santiago Cabrera, Ian Anthony Dale, and Shazi Raja are on board to play the leads. The show will air on CBS, and I have already set a reminder on my smartphone.
