The “Supergirl” series has been through a lot since the show moved from CBS to The CW network. The series was supposed to be canceled but the latter network managed to stop that from happening. Now, the series has been renewed for season 3 and is unstoppable in giving viewers the best episodes.
The second season of “Supergirl” ended with a heartbreaking finale. As the show came to a close, news outlets revealed series co-creator Adi Adler is set to leave. On a brighter note, Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner have stepped up to take her place and they will work alongside series creator Andrew Kreisberg.
Adler will still be the show’s consultant and as a part of the deal, she will also be The CW’s consultant in the freshman reboot series, “Dynasty.”
Can ‘Supergirl’ maintain the record?
During Adler’s supervision, “Supergirl” has soared high and become one of the best hero shows along with “Arrow,” “The Flash,” and “Legends of Tomorrow.” With her exit, the pressure is on for those who will take over for the series. Season 3 is set to air on October 9, 2017.
As for the big bad of the season, another Kryptonian is set to be Supergirl’s new rival. Odette Anabelle was cast as Reign and her appearance will reportedly have a different take from the comic version.
According to Den of Geek, Kreisberg said, “We are beyond excited to have her join our cast in the scary, powerful and heartbreaking role of Reign.”
Kreisberg added that he and Greg Berlanti have worked with Odette Anabelle for years. Meanwhile, the character Reign was created by Mike Johnson, Mahmud Asrar, and Michael Green, who is the current showrunner of “American Gods.” She first appeared in the comic’s volume 1, the "Last Daughter of Krypton."
The CW's ‘Supergirl’ Season 3 details
It has been reported that Katie McGrath, the actress who played the role of Lena Luthor, was promoted to a series regular. On the other hand, Floriana Lima, who portrays the role of Maggie (Alex Danvers’ lover) will not return as a regular.
While she will be around, the duration of her stay is still unknown.
We thought that Kara Danvers would be the only person with a sad ending after her Daxamite boyfriend Mike left earth. However, it seems like her sister’s wedding proposal will be indecisive since Lima is not a series regular. We will soon find out in season 3 if Reign is the one to end Supergirl’s title as the champion of Earth. What do you think will happen in the forthcoming installment?
