Shania Twain is a woman of many talents. She not only sings the songs that brought a whole new sense of female empowerment and appreciation from the 90s through the millennium, she writes the songs with the hooks that no one listener can resist. The worldwide, mega-selling singer-songwriter has also displayed another talent over the past few months—she’s good at Keeping Secrets. Interviews preceding Shania Twain's first headlining performance at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in the California desert on April 29 tempted fans with new songs that would be served as a live treat.
The beautiful brunette did not disappoint, looking and sounding hotter than ever in her Stagecoach set, and singing “Life's About to Get Good.” Still, loyal fans longed to have the song for their very own, and to put the date on the calendar for the long-awaited album that has been 15 years in the works and the waiting. Good things come to those who wait, and the dates are out!
Not yesterday or tomorrow, but ‘Now’
The pain of anticipation nearly came to a breaking point when the original prospect for the release of “Life’s About to Get Good” was March, and then April’s live performance came without any announcement for the single. Thursday, today, life is better than good, and the new song is for the taking to the patient masses of Shania Twain fans.
The song literally moves from the depths of emotional darkness to moving on again. Its opening chorus reflects “I wasn't just broken, I was shattered” as the emotion came out of Shania Twain’s emergence back into life following the immense pain of her marriage to Robert John “Mutt” Lange in the throes of even more painful infidelity.
The song holds on to the hope of “the light at the end of the tunnel,” in Shania's own words, because the resolution comes that “Life’s about joy, life’s about pain/It's about the giving and the will to walk away” and lastly, composer Shania proclaims “I'm ready to be loved, and love the way I should,” and that is the ultimate promise in “Life's About to Get Good”
The title of her albumS is appropriately named “Now,” to be released on September 29.
The album cover shows a stunning Shania Twain looking lovely as ever in leopard print at 51. The collection will feature 12 tracks written solely by Twain, with the deluxe version featuring 16 tracks. Just the idea of all those new songs gives enough inspiration to pull through any summer doldrums
Natural inspiration
Shania confesses “I was in this spirit of ‘boo-hoo’” as she began her new song. Lifting her head to see the sun, palm trees, and feeling the sensation of warm sand beneath her led her to “pull this song out of its miserable state,” and another uplifting anthem was the result.
Shania Twain drew a new audience of younger fans to her brand of country music, encouraging women to celebrate their strength in everyday examples of courage and keeping on. Now, another generation will feel that same musical nudge to make the most of “now” along with her.
