Better put your white hat, "Scandal" gladiators! The hit ABC show released a brand new update on the seventh and final season for the series. Fans will have a longer time to binge watch the series before they part ways with their favorite characters.

According to TV Line, the political drama will bow down with 124 episodes alongside the 18 hour-long episodes next season.

However, it is still a progress prior to last season's 16 episodes. The crew held back due to Kerry Washington's second pregnancy in 2016. She and her NFL husband Nnamdi Asomugha already have 2 children together namely: Isabelle Amarachi (3), Caleb Kelechi (8 months).

'Scandal' to end next year after seven seasons

Shonda Rhimes has expressed her thoughts on the end of the series. Plotting how or when they will end the series is quite easy. It was especially if they already have a certain time frame to think about the tentative end date.

With that in mind, Rhimes said that the cast and crew will give their all for their final bow.

"Scandal" is actually her third long-running series after "Private Practice" and "Grey's Anatomy." She only has three on-going series on ABC including Ellen Pompeo's medical drama, "How to Get Away With Murder," and "Still Star-Crossed."

Kerry Washington currently plays the titular role of Olivia Pope in the series.

She shares the same bittersweet sentiments of the fans. However, she is confident on how Rhimes and the writers will do the final curtain call.

The Emmy-winning actress then elaborated on how "Scandal" changed the game not only on TV but the entire Hollywood. She said that the show brought a lot of improvements in "inclusivity and storytelling."Both she and Rhimes achieved several milestones that helped in making a strong front regarding the issues of diversity in the industry.
