The season finale for "Riverdale" showed Jughead tell Betty how he truly feels, and she said she feels the same. They exchanged I love you's, which resulted in a makeout session. Fans who were rooting for Bughead were happy about where this love story is leading to; however, Jughead and Betty's steamy moment was halted when there was a knock on the door.
The Southside Serpents were there to see Jughead. They said that they are going to watch Jughead's back and they would like for him to be a part of their gang. They handed him his own Serpents jacket.
Jughead grinned, took the jacket and put it on. At this moment, Betty can be seen looking so worried. Who wouldn't be? The Southside Serpents are dangerous.
Will Bughead be torn apart?
Jughead's dad, FP, is the leader of the Serpents. Some viewers were expecting for Jughead to take his place as a gang member, however, many still hoped that he won't allow himself to be a part of this group. Now that he has been inducted, some fear that this is going to put a strain on his relationship with Betty. Is Bughead going to be over just as it started?
Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told Entertainment Weekly that the show ended on an ominous note and that Jughead joining the Serpents is going to be a "big, big story" that they are going to tell in "Riverdale" season 2.
This is expected to bring a lot of drama to Bughead. Aguirre-Sacasa also said that Betty is going to fear that Jughead will be sucked into the Serpents' world and that he might go to a new school.
If worse comes to worst, Betty will not give up
However, Aguirre-Sacasa teased that Betty is not someone who gives up easily and that she will fight for Jughead.
The producer said that Betty is the strongest of the kids and if she starts losing Jughead, she won't go down without a fight. Aguirre-Sacasa teased that this scenario may happen in the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, some "Riverdale" season 2 spoilers suggest that Cheryl Blossom is going to go darker. She will be meaner and colder, which is caused by what happened in Season 1.
Madelaine Petsch said that Cheryl will be shut down and broken, and she is just done with everything. Petsch added that Veronica wants to invite Cheryl to her gang, and Cheryl would want to be in so badly.
Cheryl is not the only character who will go dark. Archie will take on elements of revenge, Aguirre-Sacasa said. He will take the "violence begetting violence" route, and we are going to see a really different Archie. "Riverdale" season 2 is set to premiere on October 11.
