A newly slimmed down NeNe Leakes returned to "Real Housewives of Atlanta" since calling out Phaedra Parks for "playing dirty." Rumor has it, Parks won't be back, and her behavior toward castmates Kandi Burruss and Porsha Williams is reportedly the cause. Leakes must be feeling pretty fabulous after her big weight-loss makeover. The reality TV star says she's ready to take on another "RHOA" nemesis -- Kim Zolciak-Biermann -- with Parks gone.

NeNe Leakes explains stunning weight-loss

Actually, it was last year that the 49-year-old showed off her slimmer body, and it wasn't really weight-loss as much as it was being photographed with more flattering camera angles. NeNe Leakes shared photos on Instagram in a body-hugging swimsuit. She says many people were surprised that she was curvy but not really overweight. The "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star said that the reality television camera isn't very forgiving. It can make a few pounds look like obesity.

Did NeNe Leakes lose weight?

Many people assume that the "RHOA" star is a big woman. Leakes says she's full-figured but not really as fat as the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" camera makes her appear -- and Instagram proves that.

Her legs, thighs, and breasts are large, but she doesn't seem to have much belly fat. That's the case with many plus-size models, such as Ashley Graham. Their waists are small in comparison to curvier figures. Rihanna actually dislikes being slender and is happy to have put on some weight in the butt, breasts and legs. But all that being said, NeNe admits she needed to shed some pounds.

Diet or liposuction -- what's 'RHOA' star's secret?

Kim Zolciak brags up "good genes" which she claims give her a slim figure, but her body belongs as much to plastic surgery as a "naturally slender" frame. Breast implants, Botox, and a tummy tuck keep the "RHOA" star in shape. NeNe Leakes was accused of getting liposuction but claims her weight-loss required good old-fashioned diet.

The "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star loves food and can't follow restrictive calorie micromanaging. Her plan of attack is portion control and eating regularly. Yes, NeNe did say eating, not fasting, and here's why.

Fasting linked to obesity as well as anorexia

It's not just folks with anorexia who starve themselves. Eating irregularly drives obesity just as it does an eating disorder. NeNe Leakes explains that a busy shooting schedule on "Real Housewives of Atlanta" often kept her from eating all day. Then at night the reality TV star would eat big meals with cocktails. This daytime starvation sabotages weight-loss in several ways. It messes with your mind, telling you that because you didn't eat all day you can go overboard in the evening. Being tired, your limit switches don't work as well and you binge (especially if you're also watching television.) Metabolism slows at night so food doesn't burn off and turns into stored fat.
